Hike to The Salado Indian Ruin - page 2 |

This is from outside one of the small caves at the site. This area is deteriorating considerably from its' exposure to the elements. The exterior wall construction was of rock bonded with a mud and gravel mix. I suspect that it originally had a mud plaster similar to the rooms interior to the cave. The overhang here is insufficient to protect the site from high winds and rain. The man in the pic is my regular hiking buddy, Michael.
